Julie R. Filatoff is a lifelong artist, inspired by nature in all its manifestations, human relationships, and the story that a piece of art might tell. As a child, she spent many hours in her grandparents’ garden and her grandmother’s sewing studio. She is drawn to saturated, vivid color, and states that through her work she is trying to take the everyday and cause the viewer to stop and consider it in a new way.
Julie received her bachelor’s degree in art from California State University, Long Beach. Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States, including at the New Mexico State Capitol, the University of Michigan, and the International Quilt Festival; in the book 1000 Quilt Inspirations; and in several papercrafting and fiber art magazines. She is a board member of Santa Fe Book Arts Group and teaches various book art techniques. She maintains JiRaF Studio, LLC, in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
